Vice President, Director of Solutions

As Vice President, Director of Solutions, Alyssa P. Wright oversees all client work for the OpenGeo Suite, OpenGeo’s comprehensive open source-based web mapping platform. In her position, she maintains ongoing client relations, actively develops strategies for client support and training, and informs product development. Alyssa’s team is actively, directly, and regularly engaged with users from client, partner, and competitor markets. From these perspectives, they are able to provide unique and comprehensive insight into the space as a whole, as well as on client needs within it. Throughout her work, Alyssa is driven to build mapping tools and solutions that are powerful, beautiful, and fun.

Alyssa received an M.A. in media arts and sciences in 2008 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Lab where her work focused on documenting technologies of empathy within particular geospatial contexts. For her thesis, Hero Reports, she was invited to participate in the 2012 TedActive event, held in parallel to the annual TED conference and designed to foster creative problem solving among innovative and passionate thinkers. Prior to that, she completed an M.P.S. in physical computing from NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program. Alyssa graduated magna cum laude from Wellesley College in 2000 with a B.A. in women’s studies, with a concentration in media studies and design.

Cartography/Research
Helped coordinate the digital acquisition of New York City maps from the 1600s to present day. Simplified GIS data for movie sponsored by the City Museum of New York.
Administration/Coordination/Design
Operated as a liaison between students, faculty and staff of the Institute of Film and Television at the NYU Graduate Film Department. Flexible presentation skills, ranging from written correspondence and budget spreadsheets to interior design and event planning.
Interaction/Project Management
Monitored various websites within the interactive arm of Messner Vetere Berger McNamee Schmetterer. Managed quality standards of current sites while assisting with the research and production of upcoming campaigns. .
