Senior Implementation Specialist
Samuel has worn multiple hats during his 12-year affair with spatial technologies: user, print cartographer, web-mapper, integrator, scripter/programmer, trainer, analyst, manager.
He cut his teeth developing data processing workflows for the British Columbia and Canadian governments, using FME, Avenue, and JUMP/JCS/JTS. Later, Sam travelled throughout North America delivering the FOSS4G gospel to anyone who would listen.
Since 2007, Samuel has been providing spatial integration and implementation support to emergency management, security and defense organizations throughout the world. He has worked extensively in the Middle East and Australasia with a commercial mapping application that implements several Open Source spatial components.
Sam lives with his wife and cat in a cottage near the beach in Cordova Bay BC, speaks French, and is mostly vegetarian. He is a back-country skier, a mountaineer, and a triathlete. Running is his truth. Cycling reminds him of being 11. Swimming scares the daylights out of him.
