GeoWebCache sits between any WMS compliant server and tiling clients to accelerate the delivery of images and data by dividing the world in to tiles and caching for fast delivery.

  • Accelerates WMS delivery
  • Works with a variety of clients:
    • OpenLayers
    • Google Maps
    • Virtual Earth
    • Google Earth
    • uDig
  • Available as stand-alone or integrated with GeoServer
  • REST API for configuration and seeding
  • Works with a variety of backends
  • Basic WFS caching
  • Tile Sets cached based on any WMS parameter (time, elevation, style, etc.)
