Building on the initial success of the Styler application, this roadmap item includes a number of expansions to support more intuitive and powerful SLD editing, along with better integration with the GeoExt toolkit. Styler should be rearticulated as a number of GeoExt styling components, that can be integrated in to any application, to serve as a standalone SLD editor, a style manager for a server, or a GeoMix application that lets users remix styles as they like.
The first step is to decouple the SLD editing from GeoServer, to make use of the standard WMS-SLD functionality that allows servers to render client defined SLD. This will allow the styling to be a standalone application, instead of being tied to GeoServer. Several improvements are needed to OpenLayer's SLD to support to get there.
After the basics there are a number of items on our Styler roadmap that will make the styling components truly powerful. These should all be designed to be modular components that GeoExt application developers can choose whether or not to use.

Versioned Editing Toolbar and Components
There have been several applications making use of the WFS-V 'versioning' protocol of GeoServer, to do operations like History, Diff and Rollback in addition to the standard editing. These should have default components in GeoExt so people can easily add rich versioning capabilities to their applications
Creating new geometry from COGO directions is a common use case for web editing tools in county and municipal jurisdictions. This work item will create a GUI for users to enter COGO directions and return traverse data model suitable for converting to a feature or serializing to a database.
Web users especially require a flexible library of images for their map styles. We fill this need with an improved Image Manager for our Styler application.
